Saturday is Not Shabbath

1.

The Gregorian Calendar, on which Saturday is the 7th day, is less than 500 years old. This calendar was instituted by Roman Catholic Pope Gregory Xiii in 1582, after whom the calendar obtains its name.

2.

The Gregorian Calendar was a reform of the Julian Calendar, which was instituted by Roman Emperor Julius Caesar in 45 B.C.

3.

The Julian Calendar itself was a reform of the calendar of Imperial Rome, which had an eight-day week known as the nundial week. The Julian Calendar which was a transition from an eight-day week to a seven-day planetary week, obtained its name from Julius Caesar, who also added the month of Julæ (named after himself), to the ten-month Roman Year, making them eleven months.

4.

The Julian Calendar was enforced (by force) by Roman Emperor Caesar Constantine I, upon all regions that were under Roman control, including the land of Yisra’El. In A.D 321, Constantine declared an Edict establishing Sunday as the “official day of rest,” replacing the Sabbath of the Scriptural Calendar.

5.

In A.D 325, at the Ecumenical Council of Nicéa, Roman Emperor Caesar Constantine I, and the Bishops of the Church of Rome outlawed the use of the Scriptural Calendar and banned the observance of the Passover according to the Scriptural Calendar, replacing it with Easter which was a pagan festival observed on the Roman Calendar.

6.

The initial format of the Julian Calendar had Saturday as the first day of the week and Friday as the seventh day. This calendar was based on the pagan worship of the then-known seven planets, which were venerated as “gods.” This is the reason the calendar of Rome has a seven day week. It really isn’t because the Romans ascribed the seven day week of Creation to their calendar, as assumed by many people today.

7.

The latter format of the Julian Calendar which was reformed by Roman Emperor Caesar Augustus in 12 B.C, had Sunday (Day of the Sun) as the first day of the week and Saturday as its seventh day. This is because the Romans at that time adopted Mithraism (sun worship). For his part in reforming the Julian Calendar, Caesar Augustus added another month – August (named after himself), to the 11-month Julian Calendar, thus making them 12 months.

8.

Following Roman Emperor Caesar Constantine I’s decree at the Council of Nicéa in A.D 325, persecution of all who insisted on the use of the Scriptural calendar and rejected the Julian Calendar worsened, and many were martyred for their faith in the calendar and appointed times of the Creator, particularly the observance of the Passover on the 14th day of the first Scriptural month of Abib. This was commonly called the “Quartodeciman Controversy.”

9.

The widespread use of the Julian Calendar in territories under Roman control was really due to persecution and the use of force by the Church of Rome with help from the State (the Roman Republic). By the time the Julian Calendar was reformed by Pope Gregory Xiii, in 1582, people were already under the assumption that this calendar and its seven day weeks cycling continuously from Sunday to Saturday, was synonymous with the week of seven days in the Scriptures. This is where the erroneous assumption that Saturday has always been the seventh day Sabbath came from.

10.

The truth however is that the Sabbath is not found on any of the man-made calendars of Rome. The Sabbath and all the other appointed times of the Creator YAHUAH, are all found on the Scriptural Calendar that was established at Creation, with weeks of seven days that run from one New Moon to another (see Isaiah 66:23).

11.

The weekly cycles of the Scriptural calendar cycle differently from the weeks of the calendar of Rome in that, the weeks of the calendar of Rome cycle continuously without any recourse to the Lunar cycle, since their days and weeks are not regulated by anything in nature. Meanwhile, the weeks of the Scriptural Calendar are regulated by the Lunar (Moon) Cycle, and they are restarted or “refreshed” at each New Moon. The first day of each month is called “New Moon Day” and it is observed as a day of worship.

12.

Owing to the fact that the first day of each Scriptural month, which resets the weekly cycle is a worship day, the count of six workdays commences on the day following the New Moon Day. In other words, Day 2 of the MONTH…is DAY 1 of the WEEK.

13.

And became the count of six workdays commences on Day 2 of the month, this makes the Seventh-day Sabbaths to fall consistently on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th days of the Scriptural month.

14.

Evidence of the Sabbath falling on these dates of the month can be found in the Exodus story, where the people of the children of Yisra’El are said to have left Rameses in Egypt on the day after the Passover – the 15th day of the first month – AT NIGHT, after the Sacred Sabbath, which they observed before leaving Egypt had passed. (See Deu 5:15, Deu 16:1, Num 33:3)

15.

More evidence of the Sabbath falling on these dates of the month is also to be found in the Crucifixion record, since the Saviour YAHUSHA was impaled on the stake on the day of the Passover – which is the 14th day of the first month of Abib and He spent the next day at rest in the tomb; and this day was a HIGH SABBATH – which occurs when the weekly Sabbath coincides with the first day of an annual Feast (in this case the Feast of Unleavened Bread).

16.

Additional evidence of the Sabbath falling on these dates of the month is found in the 7th Scriptural month, at the Feast of Tabernacles, where we are told: “Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto YAHUAH seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath.” (Lev 23:39).

17.

The first day of the seven-day Feast of Tabernacles is the 15th which is yet another HIGH SABBATH, as mentioned above…and the Feast terminates on the 21st day to complete seven days. The eighth day which is the 22nd is a seventh-day Sabbath, which is reckoned inclusively as part of the Feast since the people would stay put in their Tabernacles/Booths (Sukah), which they would only takedown on the 23rd of the month (see 2 Chronicles 7:10).

18.

Meanwhile, there is absolutely no evidence of the Sabbath falling on any other dates of the Scriptural month other than the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. Furthermore, there is no evidence in Scripture, of the Sabbath having been recorded to have fallen on Saturday.

19.

Plans are currently underway, led by the current Roman Catholic Pope Francis, to reform the Gregorian Calendar from its current form into a fixed format in order to establish a Fixed Date for Easter Sunday. This particular reform when introduced, will mean that Sunday of the new calendar will fall where Saturday stands on the current calendar, thereby uniting all Christians (including those who believe Saturday is the Sabbath), under one ecumenical worship day, which will be the fulfillment of the prophecies of Dani’El concerning the Abomination of Desolation and the prophecies of Revelation concerning the Mark of the Beast.
YAHUAH’s message to all mankind is thus:

20.

Forsake the calendar of Rome (see Rev 18:4), and worship YAHUAH at His Appointed Times (see Lev 23), according to His Appointed Calendar (Gen 1:14, Psa 104:19); for the hour of His judgement has come! (See Rev 14:7)
