Exodus 12:2 (KJV+)
This month (H2320) shall be unto you the beginning of months: (H2320)
it shall be the first month (H2320) of the year to you.

This article looks at the interpretation that a Flat Bowl Moon is the first month of the year. (True or False?)
It is argued that Yahuah indicated a special-looking moon to Moseh. Something that can easily be recognized as that particular new moon. So, the argument goes that the ‘flat bowl moon’ is such a moon. The two horns are equal in height to each other, the horn on the left to the horn on the right. That is the rim of the bowl and the bowl forming perfectly below.
Indeed, if such a moon were visible in spring, that could signify the new year. Even if it is twice a year, one in spring and one in autumn. (As we know the beginning of the year is in Spring.) And if it is not visible at all locations over the world because of the point of observation that differ at this time, but it is in Jerusalem, the argument would still be valid, in that we have then had to look at Jerusalem. (Yasharel) Then it could be observed from other latitudes over the earth on the same latitude. But it HAS to be visible in Jerusalem to hold true.
What does Nature say?
This is the interpretation of man. What does Nature, the faithful witness that no man can change, say? Below is an image of 18 new moons in Jerusalem, in sequence, from 3 Jan 2022 to 20 May 2023. In this set should be two beginnings of the year. Does nature point them out to us?
The curve ball...
It is clear from the above that no such ‘flat bowl’ new moon occurred during the review timeframe. But the rabbit hole goes deeper. It is now argued that this phenomenon only occurs in years 3, 8, 11, and 19. It is suggested to look at 2004, 2007, 2012, 2015, and 2023.
So, I will look at February, March, and April of the years 2004 thru to 2015. The reason is that spring must fall in one of those months.
