Shabbath: Dawn to Dusk
Commentary on the time-line of the Crucifixion of Yahusha.
From these events, it is clear that the Sabbath start in the morning with sunrise, as do a day. Sabbath is from sunrise to sunset and a day is from sunrise to sunrise.
Astrological data for Yerusalem
Spring in Jerusalem: The first month:
Sunrise 5AM Sunset 6PM. Daylight 13 hours.
Day divide in 12 parts gives 65 min parts.
9th hour therefore @ 14h45 or 3PM that Yahusha died.
That leave 3 hours before sunset.
Events.
We see from Mat 27:57 / Mar 15:42 that even has come when Yoceph approached Pilate. Therefore, if Shabbat started with sunset, Shabbat already started at this stage. It is quite believable the sun already set at this stage, when considering everything that happened since Yahusha gave his Ruach.
The veil of the Temple was rent.
There was an earth quake.
Rocks rent.
Graves opened.
Bodies arose.
The centurion admitted that Yahusha was the Son of Elohiym.
Woman standing, looking on afar.
People came together to that sight, smoting their breasts and return.
The Yahudiym went to Pilate and besought Pilate that legs be broken.
Then came soldiers and broke the legs of two people.
Then a soldier pierced His side, forthwith came there out Blood and Water.
Up to here can be easily three hours, as we see next, only after this, even came.
And then only approached Yoceph Pilate in secret.
Even has come
Even has come and now Yoceph speak to Pilate, requesting the body (Mat 27:57 / Mar 15:42)
Pilate is surprised that Yahusha is dead already and send a guard to confirm.
The guard go there and get the facts.
He returns to Pilate and confirm.
Now Pilate give permission.
Now Yoceph have to go there to get the body.
He has to remove it from the cross himself. A task that cannot be easy and quick. Mathew 27:58 says the body had to be delivered to Yoceph, another place say he did it himself. Mar 15:46 Luk 23:53 Joh 19:38
Now the work started.
Yoceph had to wrap the body in clean linen cloth.
Niqodiymon came with a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight.
They then wound the body in linen clothes, with the spices.
Then they laid it in Yoceph’s new tomb.
And rolled a big stone in front of the opening.
After this, Luke 23:54 says it was still the preparation day and the Sabbath drew on. (Came closer) Yet it must have been well into the night. Joh 19:42 confirm it was still the preparation day.
The woman watched how the body was laid and then returned, preparing spices and ointments. That must have taken them even deeper into the night/morning hours and only after that, they rested for the Sabbath.
This is only possible if a day start in the morning with sunrise and the Sabbath start from then also. The alternative, that all this happened in just 3 hours, is unimaginable.
We also see
And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.
This could only be the time period between sunset, when the Sabbath ended, and sunrise when the first day of the week started.
Something else to consider is that the Yahudiym went to Pilate the next day only, on the Sabbath, to request a guard at the grave. It makes sense, as you cannot go to Pilate in the middle of the night.
